Book Fair: We LOVE to read at Scoil Mhuire Senior!
Scoil Mhuire Senior’s annual Book Fair takes place from Monday 13th to Friday 17th February.
This event is hugely popular, and is super for promoting reading with our children.
To add to that, the commission received on our Book-Fair is our main source of funding for new books to the library. Many popular books literally get loved to bits, so this event is really important for us, to enable us to replenish stocks, and access new publications.
There will be competitions run in classes to promote reading between now and World Book Day on March 2nd, with books from the book fair as prizes.
Classes will visit the Book Fair in the School Library from Monday 13th.
€1.50 Vouchers will be distributed during the week which children can use towards purchasing books at the Book Fair, or in any book shop.
Parents are most welcome to visit the Book Fair too, from 10am to 2pm daily.
World Book Day (where we focus on reading for fun) is on Thursday, March 2nd this year. To mark the occasion, children might dress as their favourite character from a book, do book-swops in class, and enjoy DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read!) and other activities relating to reading.
Huge thanks for your continued co-operation and support!
Máire Lineen.
