Ms. O' Mahony's Class

Welcome to our 5th Class

Here we are in the third term and cannot believe we only have a few weeks until the summer holidays.

We are starting our cycling safety course and we are really looking forward to it. Colm and Noel are the coaches.

The month of May is a special time when we honour Mary, mother of Jesus. This is a time when we look forward to better weaher and plants and flowers bloom. We have an alter dedicated to Mary in our class, we will add names to the alter for those who need our prayers.

We enjoyed a lovely trip to Draíocht for a visit and a behind the scenes tour, it was great to pretend being on stage and performing, we were just missing an audience.

We were so lucky to have the author Alan Nolan visit our school again. We learn so much from him and he is helping us write a comic book, we are creating and designing our characters at the moment.

We are learning all about The Great Famine in History. It is very sad to learn that so many people died from starvation and the hard times people went through. We have started reading our new novel, Under the Hawthorn tree which is based at the time of the famine.
