Ms. O' Shea's Class
Welcome back to 5th class! It is great to have the same class so that we can pick up where we left off in 4th class. The class have settled in well and we are looking forward to the year ahead. We are lucky to be having swimming lessons again and it is wonderful to see the children continuing to develop their swimming skills.
We are also flat out with the Marathon Kids programme where we are running different distances each day to build up our fitness and stamina. We started at 600m a day and are now at 1000m a day. For the final mile we will be running in Morton Stadium in Santry which will be a huge honour as athletes like Sharlene Mawdsley and Rhasidat Adeleke have run there.
We have been very creative in English using the poems ‘Glurp the Purple Alien’ and ‘The Marrog’ as inspirations to write our own poems. It also inspired our artwork where we created name aliens. Our first novel this year is a book called ‘The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh’. It is a very good (and funny) story about a boy who has a stammer and how he copes with it while wanting to be a stand-up comedian. It teaches us some important lessons like accepting others as they are and supporting them. It also teaches us that we are capable of achieving our goals if we put our mind to it and try our best.
Well done to the first students of the week for this year. They are: Leighton, Tadhg, Caoimhe and Leon.
